Notre Dame Christmas

Tonight was the annual Christmas program for the Notre Dame School, where my son is a student. Notre Dame is a school for children with special needs--a place where grace happens every day. We are deeply grateful for staff and faculty who live out their belief in the value of every human life. They demonstrate both institutional and personal hospitality. They instruct and encourage with patience. They practice kindness.

The Christmas program is the year's biggest event. A packed house cheers every song. Parents wave back to kids on the stage. Camera flashes light the night. Tears flow down smiling faces. It is an exuberant celebration of life, of grace, of humanity. It is a celebration of Christmas--a reminder that Christ became truly human so we could be fully human.
